MASJID AL-MUSTARAH (THE RESTING PLACE)

The mosque of rest.

Where the Prophet ﷺ Stopped

This mosque is named Al-Mustarah — "the place of rest" — because the Prophet ﷺ stopped here to rest during one of his journeys, possibly before Uhud. (As-Samhudi · Wafa' al-Wafa)

A Mosque of Everyday Life

Like many small mosques on the outskirts of Medina, Al-Mustarah reminds us that the sanctity of the prophetic Medina also lies in the simple stops of the Prophet ﷺ — a rest along a path, a prayer, a moment of breath.
