JABAL AL-ASAFIRIN (TWO WHITE/YELLOW MOUNTAINS)
The Mountain of Birds.
An Eminence on the Periphery
Jabal al-Asafirin — "The Mountain of Birds" — is a rocky prominence located on the outskirts of Medina. Its name comes from the presence of birds that once nested in its crevices.
It is not a famous mountain like Uhud or Sal'. There is no sahih hadith related to it. But it is part of the diffuse sacred topography of Medina — these places that the Prophet ﷺ saw, traversed, or gazed upon.
Why This Mountain Matters
It matters because it is within the perimeter of the Haram of Medina, defined by the Prophet ﷺ as being "between 'Ayr and Thawr." (Sahih al-Bukhari no. 1867 · Sahih Muslim no. 1370)
Every stone, every crevice, every bird, every breeze within this perimeter is under prophetic protection. Hunting is prohibited there. Cutting trees is prohibited. Simply walking there with respect is an act of faith.
Jabal al-Asafirin is part of this sacred land.
Note of Sincerity
Jabal al-Asafirin does not have a direct prophetic narrative. Its value lies solely in its inclusion in the Haram of Medina. Visit Arabia presents it as a secondary geographical point without inventing any tradition.
