MOSQUE OF SALMAN AL-FARSI (KHANDAQ)

The mosque of the Persian genius.

Salman’s Position During the Khandaq

This mosque is part of the seven mosques of Khandaq — a complex commemorating the prayer positions of the companions during the siege of the year 5 AH.

It traditionally marks the position of Salman al-Farsi during the digging of the trench. He was the one who proposed this revolutionary Persian strategy, and he supervised part of the work.

Salman, Pride of Islam

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Salman is part of my family." (At-Tabarani — hasan chain)

When the Muhajirun and the Ansar disputed over who Salman belonged to, the Prophet ﷺ decided: he was from Ahl al-Bayt — the family of the Prophet ﷺ.
