On the way to Badr, the Prophet ﷺ halted at "Sajsaj, which is the well of ar-Rawha'". From there, he sent Abu Lubaba back to govern Medina (Ibn Hisham).
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The son of Maryam will make the talbiya at Fajj ar-Rawha', for Hajj, for ʿUmra, or for both" (Muslim 1252).
It was also at ar-Rawha' that a woman lifted her child up to him: "Does this one have a Hajj?" — "Yes, and you will have the reward" (Muslim 1336).
Ar-Rawha' is 36 miles from Medina according to the early scholars (Muslim 388), about 80 km by road today. The well still contains water, and the small mosque next to it is being restored (SPA, April 2026).
