As-Sayala was the first stop for the people of Medina on the road to Mecca (Yaqut, Muʿjam al-Buldan).
On the way to Badr, the army passed through as-Sayala, then through the pass of ar-Rawha' (Ibn Hisham). During the Farewell Hajj, the Prophet ﷺ had his dinner there and prayed Maghrib and ʿIsha' (al-Waqidi).
Ibn ʿUmar used to stop to pray where the Prophet ﷺ had prayed on this road, near the mosque of Sharaf ar-Rawha', at the end of as-Sayala (Bukhari 485).
Part of the remains disappeared with the expressway to Yanbuʿ. A cistern and some foundations remain.
