PALM GROVE OF SALMAN AL-FARSI

The 300 palm trees of freedom — planted by the Prophet ﷺ.

Planted by the Prophet ﷺ

It is here, according to the Medinan tradition, that the historical palm grove related to Salman Al-Farsi (رضي الله عنه) is located — perhaps the very site where the Prophet ﷺ and his companions planted the 300 palm trees to redeem his freedom.

The account in the Sîrah states: « The Prophet ﷺ began to dig the holes and plant the palm trees with his own hands. » (Musnad Ahmad)

The Miracle of the Palm Trees

According to tradition, each palm tree planted by the Prophet ﷺ grew and bore fruit in the same year — which is botanically extraordinary. This allowed Salman to fulfill his part of the manumission contract.

Today

The palm grove has lost its original trees, but the traditional site is preserved. It is a significant place for those who remember the humility of the Prophet ﷺ who planted palm trees with his own hands to free a Persian slave.
